On tour with Deadmau5 and tearing up the Beatspot chart at the moment, Skrillex, is bringing his original and energetic Dance/Electronica/Dubstep to the forefront. Mashing smooth instrumentals with heavy beats and synths he looks like to be a new big name in the ever growing, ever expanding Dance scene.
Skrillex aka Sonny Moore is a electronic music artist from LA, in good old California, and has been making music since he was around 13. Moore used to be the front man for the metalcore band First From Last at the age of 16, but left the band in 2007 to pursue a solo career. Having gone solo as Skrillex he's released two EP's this year; (one of which you'll find the review on the reviews page) "My name is Skrillex", which was available as a free download off of his Myspace page, and "Scary monsters and nice spirits". The later of the two EP's being released on the 22nd of October.
Skrillex's sound is definitely more towards the electronic side of the Dubstep/Dance scale, with a lot of noise and a heck of a lot of base, a great example being "scatta" (with bare noize and foreign Beggars). The electronic element of his music is always at the fore and with the usual template of Dubstep, the instrumental at the beginning and then the heavy bass drop, his sound is made unique with his original use of samples beats and breaks. Skrillax IS the future of Music and safe to say he is my favorite new artist in the Electronic/Dance genre, but don't just take my word for it check out his music and see for yourself...
