EX hip-hop DJ, Yasmin has made her transition to the other side of the turntables, to become one of the uk's hottest new singer songwriter. After her vocals featured on the Devlin track "runaway" she's gained a lot of support here, in the UK, and especially from the underground grime and hip hop scene.
Now, having signed with ministry of sound earlier this year, she's finally about to release her debut single "on my own", on the 24th of January and i already cant wait for this release. Produced by Shy FX, the track has it's own hip hop/ambient feel which is breathed into life by Yasmin's melodic vocals. The lyrics are more intelligent than you would expect from a pop songs showing her unique, independent style and the chorus is as catchy as ever; think a much less annoying Pixie Lott.
Previously being a Hip Hop DJ, Yasmin, was spotted at 21 by Pharrell Williams during one of her DJ sets, thus being picked up by big names to tour with the likes of Will.i.am, Taio Cruz and Eve. However as a DJ Yasmin's singing and songwriting talents were kept under wraps during this time, until she started doing studio sessions with the likes of Labrinth; to which we're now starting to hear the end products.
Yasmin is definitely one of the hottest new talents to spring up from the UK; brining a unique style to the table, with her sweet songwriting skills and epic vocals which are melodic and ethereal. 2011 is already looking like a good year with the anticipation of Katy B's and Chase and status's albums and a whole host of new music, but i really think that next year we're gonna hear a lot more good stuff from Yasmin.
